Rachel Reeves has asserted that emails demonstrate her innocence regarding the controversy surrounding her house rental.

The embattled Chancellor released messages indicating that her letting agent had consented to apply for a license on her behalf but did not follow through.

The agency, Harvey Wheeler, stated that the property manager in charge of handling the application had "suddenly resigned" and did not transfer the responsibility.

They have since issued an apology for the "oversight."
