A young couple of Arbore, Southern Ethiopia, get married and the young bride will then move to live with her husband's family for three months, where she will learn the ways of her new family. Only after three months will they get to live together and consummate their marriage. It is too hot to build during the day, so they start early in the evening and run on by the light of a full moon until the house is finished. The house is built from reeds which are gathered from the banks of the great lake, and the womenfolk will frequently walk for 2-3 hours with them on their backs to get to their villages.
