I would have arranged a power of attorney
If you know in advance that you won’t be able to visit your home country often after moving, it’s worth preparing a power of attorney ahead of time. It will be useful if you need to urgently obtain a document or, for example, sell property without leaving Portugal.
I would have had all key documents apostilled
It’s best to put an apostille on all important papers in advance — diplomas, certificates, records. This will save you time and spare you from bureaucratic challenges once you’re already in Portugal.
I would have researched business prospects and income opportunities
Which industries are growing, how to reach the desired income level, what taxes apply, and what opportunities the government provides — all this is important to understand how to build your life and career.
I would have turned to relocation experts
Moving abroad is a process full of details. Personally, I used a relocation company when preparing to move to Portugal. At my company, @relyonrelocation, every team member has personal relocation experience. We support you at every stage — from choosing a city to obtaining citizenship.
