Reconnecting to the roots was the main intention behind the design. There was an existing ancestral home in the site, that needed to be reimagined, yet retaining the traditional value of the home.
The requirement was to design a weekend Villa, where the close extended family visit often to spend their leisure time in cozy spaces, having conversations, playing tennis on the lawn, and for overall relaxation.
Our main idea was to punctuate the house with a beautiful skylight. A large skylight-covered sunken courtyard was introduced at the center of the house, allowing natural lighting to flow into the interior. An Earthy color palette was chosen to add to the Indian soul of the home. Yellow Jaisalmer, Kota stone with a tumbled finish complimented the interior flooring and the surrounding verandahs. The front verandah also served as a viewing gallery for the tennis court in the front. The interior furniture and accessories were predominantly chosen in wood to retain the traditional feel of the home.
