Many people assume you hire an architect to do the drawings. This is not actually the full story.

I visited Bracklinn Falls bridge outside Callander, in Scotland recently and discovered afterwards that it was designed by an Architect. This shows the diverse range of structures that Architects can design. It also illustrates how projects are actually designed and built and that the full range of services an architect can provide goes far beyond drawing.
