Ban is particularly renowned for his use of unconventional materials such as paper, cardboard, and bamboo in his architectural designs, which has earned him the nickname "the Paper Architect." He is also known for his humanitarian efforts, designing low-cost, easily constructed homes for disaster victims around the world. Some of his notable works include the Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch, New Zealand, the Centre Pompidou-Metz in France, and the Aspen Art Museum in Colorado. Ban has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of architecture, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2014.
