They say moving house is one of the biggest stresses in life, the upheaval and uncertainty, add unknown into the mix too and you're starting to create a cocktail of emotions. We sold our house as chain free to create a mor attractive proposition for the buyer and to create leverage in our arsenal when purchasing also not being tied and dependant to a house sale ourselves. As the video explains, there were many a hurdle when we bought our house despite both sides being chain free it still took over 6 months, this time round it sold quickly as we had all papers in order. Unfortunately a house we are looking to purchase is in a chain and onward in a chain and so on, the chain is yet to close so we will be in abeyance for an unknown amount of time! Alas, as with anybody in this situation, we are lucky to have found a suitable in between home with limited disruption so we will await the path and see what comes. But yes, lots of people charging you lots of money for doing relatively little, solicitor takes 1% estate agent takes 1%, 2% penalty to your mortgage for paying it off early and the list goes on. Maybe renting is the way forward instead as each time you buy a subsequent house in the UK you have to pay a levied surcharge in thresholds based on the amount of the house as a stamp duty land tax also and that's a big one! Anyway as I write this we've already moved into our bungalow and everyone seems happier so we'll take the positives as they come!
