Torrential rains cause massive flooding in South Africa.
Over 100mm of rain in a short period of time, causes flooding in Polokwane City, Limpopo, Wednesday 1 February 2023.
Riders are advised to exercise caution around Grobler & Munnik due to deep water. There was a fallen tree at Rissik between Biccard & Dorp, Devenish & Burger and Pietersburg & River. Tech 7 & 9 walls of the TUT Polokwane Campus reportedly collapsed.
Emergency services warn motorists to avoid CBD Polokwane, and on the Thabo Mbeki journey only the two middle lanes are usable. Limpopo Regional Hospital were closed due to heavy rains which caused flooding.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) verified whether or not it was indeed a cloudburst by analyzing radar data.
