???? Why is the Leaning Tower of Pisa leaning? And why doesn’t it fall over?

???? I KNOW you have these burning questions in your mind. So, I’m here with the answers.

???? The construction for the Leaning Tower of Pisa began in the 1100s. But since a portion of the tower’s base was on soft ground, the tower began to tilt on the side as the workers added more floors.

???? By 1990, this lean became so precarious that the site had to be closed off to visitors, fearing a collapse. Thankfully, brilliant engineers swooped in to save the day. They dug tunnels, pumped out some soil, and even added a ton of lead weights to counter the lean.

✅ And it worked! The Leaning Tower of Pisa is now over 16 inches straighter than before and totally safe to climb for epic views.

???? We’ll be looking at such amazing architecture everyday. What building do you want to hear about next? Let me know in the comments below!
