This House Story visits the 112-year-old Grant Jones Historic House in Calgary, carefully restored and designated by a designer and his family, continuing the care and stewardship of the previous owners.
The Kennedy's weren’t planning to buy a house, but when they saw this one, they knew it was theirs. Over time, they’ve touched nearly every inch of the home, preserving lath and plaster walls, adding insulation and heritage replica windows, and choosing materials like Douglas fir cabinetry and a weathered picket fence that age gracefully.
Their renovation balances preservation with modern living: maintaining the house’s character shaped over more than a century while creating functional, family-focused spaces. The garage workshop, views to the park, and a revitalized front porch reflect a home designed for everyday life and meaningful family moments.
