The first and sixth floors correspond to the north and belong to the Water element. Therefore, the first and sixth floors of a building belong to the Water element, as do floors ending in one or six, such as the eleventh, twenty-first, thirty-first floors, and so on.

The second and seventh floors correspond to the south and belong to the Fire element. Thus, the second and seventh floors of a building belong to the Fire element, and floors ending in two or seven also belong to Fire, such as the twelfth, twenty-second, thirty-second floors, and so on.

The third and eighth floors correspond to the east and belong to the Wood element. Hence, the third and eighth floors of a building belong to the Wood element, and floors ending in three or eight are also associated with Wood, such as the thirteenth, twenty-third, thirty-third floors, and so on.

The fourth and ninth floors correspond to the west and belong to the Metal element. Consequently, the fourth and ninth floors of a building belong to the Metal element, and floors ending in four or nine also belong to Metal, such as the fourteenth, twenty-fourth, thirty-fourth floors, and so on.

The fifth and tenth floors correspond to the center and belong to the Earth element. Therefore, the fifth and tenth floors of a building belong to the Earth element, and floors ending in five or ten are also associated with Earth, such as the fifteenth, twenty-fifth, thirty-fifth floors, and so on.
