Tucked into the hills of Eagle Rock, this mid-century post and beam by Los Angeles architect Dick E. Lowry, AIA, stands as a rare architectural jewel with sweeping canyon and city views.

Set against a lush hillside, the home’s geometric profile, clad in warm wood siding and grounded by deep black trim, projects a striking presence. Multiple decks extend from the living spaces, blurring the threshold between indoors and out and creating a treehouse-like connection to the landscape.

Inside, walls of glass frame layered views, while exposed structure and natural finishes celebrate the quiet rigor of mid-century construction. Recently reimagined by Yeh Design Lab, the home’s redesign honors Lowry’s architectural DNA while introducing a vibrant textural palette and subtle modern interventions. The project was commissioned by a repeat client of the general contractor, Chris Jung, owner of Los Carpenters, whose craftsmanship and sensitivity to detail helped bring the design to life.

The kitchen blends custom cabinetry, modern appliances, and bold red and blue tilework in a composition that reads as both sculptural and functional. Bedrooms are calm and expansive, defined by clerestory windows and natural wood tones that filter light throughout the day. Bathrooms embrace spa-like restraint, including an outdoor shower enclosed in wood, heightening the sense of retreat.

Sited across three lots, the property offers layered terraces for gathering and reflection, along with a detached studio overlooking the hills, a fitting workspace or creative refuge. Just minutes from Eagle Rock’s vibrant core, this home embodies the enduring dialogue between architecture, craftsmanship, and nature.
