Cuthbert Brodrick was a famous Victorian architect. He was born in Hull and became famous when he designed Leeds Town Hall in 1852. Several of Brodrick's other major buildings still survive in Leeds, including Leeds Corn Exchange and Leeds Institute. As a result he is regarded as one of the most famous Leeds architects. Cuthbert Brodrick also designed The Grand Hotel in Scarborough and Wells House in Ilkley.
