"Bonang" - piece no. 20 of Feng Shui & Memories: Spiritual Alignment.

What is the meaning of bonang?

noun. bo·nang. bōˈnaŋ plural bonangs. : a Javanese gong chime consisting of ten to fourteen small tuned gongs set in a horizontal wooden frame.
(This was a working title which stuck. )

Please note: this is not a "collaboration" ...don't blame Soria or Tiad if you don't like it; they each performed parts as presented to them on manuscript and from rehearsal memory... and beautifully I might add.
I and I alone am responsible for every note, phrase and compositional decision on texture.

When fitting to do so, I enjoy taking simple heartfelt melodies and applying the craft of orchestration for added texture..
This is one such piece within this collection.
The process is deceptively simple. The craft for me comes by way of the selection of just the right instrumentation
to support and intertwine with the piece; the art comes by way of when the additional instruments come in. When should
they come in? When shouldn't they? Is there a dialogue? Over the time arc of the piece how does it breathe?
In the end, if you are successful, you may be rewarded with a nice little musical painting
of the poetry and ideas you began with which has a life of its very own.

These musical pieces are each self-contained, perhaps like a singular haiku, though they were channeled and developed all within the same time period thus constitute
the personality of a full album. ..a complete book of musical poetry if you will.
Some of the pieces feature westernized kaiku along with them.
This collection was inspired by my dear friend and composer Melissa Weed.
