Far more than a weightlifting, wrestling, and boxing gym, it was the wonder of Ancient Rome.

It featured a cold plunge the size of an Olympic pool—called the ‘Frigidarium.’

As well as a 115-foot steam room, or ‘Caldarium.’

And in the tunnels beneath the gym, a secret cult worshipped the eastern militant god Mithras.

This gym even had a library, because Romans knew strength was mental as well as physical.

Its walls were covered in murals honoring boxing and wrestling champions, detailed down to their cauliflower ears and broken noses.

The Baths weren’t just a gym—they were a symbol of Roman power, health, and culture.
