The 45 Commando of the British Royal Marines is an elite amphibious light infantry unit that conducts versatile, expeditionary operations around the world. As one of the Royal Marines' key operational units, 45 Commando specializes in mountain, arctic, jungle, desert, and littoral warfare.

Based at RM Condor in Arbroath, Scotland, 45 Commando forms part of the Royal Marines 3 Commando Brigade. It consists of a headquarters, logistic, fire support, signals, and medical support elements in addition to combat rifle companies. The unit’s varied capabilities ensure that 45 Commando Royal Marines can undertake missions ranging from direct action, stabilization operations, maritime security, military assistance, training partners, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

With a celebrated history stretching back over 75 years, the men of 45 Commando have built a worldwide reputation for courage, determination, unflagging cheerfulness and remarkable physical resilience while operating in punishing environments. Some highlights include service in Norway, Vietnam, the Falkland Islands, Afghanistan and Iraq. The distinctive Unit Flash featuring a Sphinx earned in Egypt during World War II remains a proud symbol of 45 Commando to this day.
