⚠Beware of Real Estate Scammers‼

Unfortunately, the real estate industry is not immune to scammers. Recently in the #WilmingtonNC area there have been some real estate scams with people pretending to be sellers to fraudulently collect due diligence deposits. There are actions that can be taken to protect yourself, your clients, and the public from falling victim.

A few actions to lessen the chances of becoming a victim of #realestate fraud are:

1) Ask for photo id
2) Meet in person whenever possible, Zoom or video are next best
3) Check the property sales history, talk to the previous agent. If something feels off, ask more questions...dig deeper.

If you encounter this problem, encourage the property owners to contact the FBI and Attorney General. The contact information is below:
